Art Openings: The first Friday of a new art exhibit, Friends sponsor an opening reception from 6 to 7 pm. Volunteers are needed to plan, set up and/or serve the light refreshments.

Book Sale: Friends sponsor three book sales a year—March, July and December. Volunteers are needed to sort donated books during the year and work at the book sale. Contact Suzy Hooper at geosoo143@yahoo.com or 434-7344.
Book Sale Sign Placement : Prior to each Book Sale, temporary signs are placed at specific locations around town to advertise the book sales. Volunteers are needed to help place the signs before the book sale and pick them up when the sale has ended. Contact Lucy Ambrosino at lambro2@yahoo.com.
Children’s Events: Volunteers are needed at the beginning of the summer to help make packets for the summer reading kickoff. If you are interested in helping with children’s events in any capacity, contact Jennifer Seideman at ejseide@optonline.net.
Films@Library: Friends sponsor 2 film series each year—one in the summer and one in the winter. Volunteers are needed to help plan the series, and also to help set up the room for the films on Thursday afternoons. Contact Doris Jacoby at dorisstorm@jsfilmproductions.com or 227-8188.
Student Volunteers: There are volunteer opportunities in the Children's Library and sometimes in other parts of the Library for students in middle or high school. If interested, contact Lynne Perrigo at lperrigo@westportlibrary.org
Memorial Day Parade Float: Friends create a float for the Westport Memorial Day Parade. During the year, the committee brainstorms ideas, and 2 weeks before the parade, volunteers are needed to build the float and dress the set on the day of the parade. Valentine’s Day: To show appreciation and create awareness for Friends, volunteers are needed to invite people to enjoy a free beverage at the Library cafe compiments of the Friends between 9am and 5pm. Contact Jackie Grundei at grundei4@sbcglobal.net
Volunteer-at-Large: If interested in helping at various tasks from working at events or helping with a mailing, contact Joan Hume at jhume@westportlibrary.org or 291-4818.
WestportREADS: In late winter/early spring, Friends support WestportREADS, when the entire community is encouraged to read the same book. Volunteers are needed to help coordinate book discussions and other events. Contact Marta Campbell at mcampbell@westportlibrary.org or 291-4842.
