No Kidding, Me Too!

The Westport Teen Awareness Group is offering a free screening of the documentary No Kidding, Me Too! on Tuesday, April 28th at 7PM in the Staples Auditorium. There is no admission fee and seating is on a first-come basis. The documentary was produced and created by Emmy Award winning actor and Wilton resident, Joey Pantoliano.

Thank you to all 87 of you who came out to see Maureen Johnson, Libba Bray, Cassie Clare, and Robin Wasserman last night. We had a blast and it was so great to see so many people excited about YA books in one room! Some great pics can be found over at WestportNow and I've posted some of my own below. The Full Burn

This Tuesday, September 9th, Kevin Conley will be speaking here at the Library. Conley is a journalist and author of the new book The Full Burn: On the Set, at the Bar, Behind the Wheel and Over the Edge With Hollywood Stuntmen.

The Brooklyn Book Festival

The 2008 Brooklyn Book Festival is taking place on Sunday, Sept 14th at the Brooklyn Borough Hall & Plaza. I didn't go last year because I didn't know that the Festival also welcomed YA authors. This year has a great lineup!

Every Monday night in August, the Westport Youth Commission and Toquet Hall are presenting TeenFlix at the Levitt Pavilion. Showings start at 8:30PM. The schedule is as follows:

Summer Gaming

This summer, you can help beat the heat by attending gaming events at the Library. Stop by on the last day of school this Friday from 3-5 to play Wii games with your friends. If you're looking for more of a challenge, you can attend the Westport Library's first ever Gaming Tournament on Friday, August 8th!

Altered Books

To celebrate the Library's 100th birthday, we are embarking on a community-wide project called Books Unbound, in which people will make altered books that will be auctioned off to raise money for the library.

No Fair For Old Books

The Staples High School Book Fair starts this week. There will be a kickoff party at Barnes & Noble in Westport on Tuesday, May 20th. I will be at the party, as well as at Staples most days next week. Stop by and say hello and ask me for book recommendations! Also, be sure to check out the rest of the Book Fair video series!

Harry Potter

Are you coming to the Harry Potter release party on Friday night? If so, you'll have a chance to play the new Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix game for the Nintendo Wii. You will learn how to cast spells and navigate through Hogwart's. These skills will come in handy when we play the game at future gaming events. Hope to see you there!

I need people to discuss it with, since the book is about a mystery that is never solved. And guess what? Greg Galloway is coming to the Westport Library on Monday, March 26th!!!

Studying In Action!!

The library was PACKED on Wednesday night with students frantically studying for midterm exams. Good luck everybody and keep coming back for snacks and study space!

Study Time!

Wild_Abo.GIFAs you know, Midterms take place next week at Staples High School. In order to make your study time more enjoyable (if this is possible…), I have reserved the McManus Room and Seminar Room for you Monday-Thursday evenings next week. There will be areas for quiet study as well as group study. The library will provide snacks and soda and I will be around with my trusty laptop, should you need help. Spread the word and bring your friends.

Guitar Hero Extravaganza

I will be hosting a night of Guitar Hero in the McManus Room tomorrow night, Wednesday, January 3rd at 7PM. Bring your friends and your urge to rock. I received a second controller as a gift, so now we can play on multiplayer mode!! Snacks and good times will be provided. If you have any questions, you can e-mail me. Hope to see you there!
