WHO WE ARE
Friends of the Westport Library is a non-profit membership organization of volunteers committed to strengthening and promoting the Library's services in the community and expanding the utilization of the Library by:
- Raising funds to provide programs, resources and facilities
that support and enrich the Library.
- Sponsoring cultural programs, outreach activities and community events.
- Supporting the Library and its staff with volunteers, donations of
materials and equipment and improved facilities. - Enhancing the Library's efforts to foster a sense of community.
Anyone can become a member of the Friends by completing a membership application & enclosing annual dues. Membership includes subscription to the Friends newsletter and discount coupons for the Library Store, the Cafe, or the daily book sale shelves. You may also donate online.
The Friends contribute money for books, programs and special things like wireless computer hook-ups, upgrades on the website, lighting in the McManus Room, and much more. Friends also created a kiosk at the beach filled with paperback books for beach-goers to enjoy--an extention of the library--at the beach! Friends also set up a book shelf at the Senior Center.
INTERESTED IN VOLUNTEERING? There Are Many Opportunities Friends contributed volunteer time and energy to create many programs and special events and worked with library staff to meet the needs of the community.
