No One Belongs Here More Than You

mirandajuly.jpgMy favorite film of 2005 was Me You and Everyone We Know. This was the debut feature-length film for the artist Miranda July, a performance artist best known for involving the audience directly in her work, such as assigning recreational projects on her website or taking participants from the audience and giving them roles in her plays. The film is humorous, heartfelt, haunting and beautiful. I really cannot say enough good things about it. Here is the trailer:

Much to my delight, Ms. July has just released a book of short stories, entitled No One Belongs Here More Than You. And may I say that it has the most entertaining promotional website I have ever seen? Each story is completely different but despite this diversity, each story holds a particular beauty and optimism that I have come to expect from Miranda July. So far, No One is definitely one of my favorite books of 2007.

I too found this film really interesting, compelling and very different. It is one of the most inventive films I have seen recently
