The Fair Winds Brass Quartet are versatile musicians who perfom many styles of music including Baroque, Classical, and Jazz. The group is composed of: Patricia Hurley on trumpet (degees from Cornell, Eastman and UConn and many years of professional experience as a principal, section, and chamber musician), Dr. Marjorie Seymour Callaghan on horn (Associate Professor of Music at Western Connecticut State University), Frank Tamburro on trumpet (degrees from the Eastman School of Music and Principal Trumpet of the Waterbury Symphony Orchestra), and Nicole Hansboro on trombone (degrees in Music Education from the UConn and in trombone perfomance from the New England Conservatory of Music and general music teacher at Jefferson Science Magnet School in Norwalk).

Team members apply their creativity to solve problems that range from building mechanical devices to presenting their own interpretation of literary classics. The fifth conversation in the TEAM Westport Series on Race is an open forum on the Henry Louis Gates Jr incident in Cambridge. Westport Police Chief Al Fiore will begin the session, briefly describing Westport’s approach to the kinds of issues that triggered the Cambridge incident. Harold Bailey Jr., TEAM Westport chair, says “If you have a point of view on this, we want to hear it. We hope everyone in the community takes the time to come to the Library and make his or her opinion known.” TEAM Westport is the town's official committee on multiculturalism and diversity.

Margot Berwin's sultry debut novel, Hothouse Flower and the Nine Plants of Desire: A Novel, explores plant magic, spiritual discovery, and romantic fever in the jungles of Mexico—an adventure that finds its roots at a green market in lower Manhattan and in one very special Laundromat. Learn about the hottest occupations and careers in Connecticut now and over the next 8 years. Michael Shavel of the CT Department of Labor will cover current wage and salary data, employment projections, jobs in demand, training requirements, and working conditions. He will also demonstrate the Department of Labor web site, including Job & Career Connection to learn about specific occupations, identify potential schools & training programs, and potential employers. This program is ideal for those enrolled in school, recent graduates, those seeking a career change or looking for immediate employment.

Marina Marchese, author of Honeybee: From Hive to Home, Lessons from an Accidental Beekeeper, will talk about how she acquired her own bees, built her own hives, harvested honey, earned a certificate in apitherapy, studied wine tasting in order to transfer those skills to honey tasting, and eventually opened her own business. Honeybee is a warm and inspiring story of one woman's experience with honeybees and also has a wealth of information about all aspects of bees, beekeeping, and honey.
