Great Hall Art Exhibit: "David Levine: The Westport Years"
A video tour of the art exhibit of caricaturist David Levine is discussed by his son, Matthew Levine. Hear about his background, education, works, and philosophy in this engaging tour.
When David Levine, painter and caricaturist, passed away in December of 2009, an outpouring of obituaries and articles confirmed what had already been suggested during his remarkable career: he was one of the greats.
During the period in which he summered in Westport, 1956-1977, he matured as a painter and blossomed into a world-renowned caricaturist who influenced cultural dialogue. He had an expression that, for him, united his two bodies of work. “I love my species.”
