Sunday, Jul 8, 2012 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM
Dr. Mark Schenker, Associate Dean at Yale College, leads a discussion of Shakespeare's classic romance, Romeo and Juliet, with a focus on a range of tensions in the play: between tragedy and comedy, parents and children, passion and responsibility, moral action and fate. He will also discuss the play in the context of Shakespeare’s time and our own, where Shakespeare’s star-crossed lovers continue to flourish in classrooms, stage and movie productions, and in the imaginations of contemporary readers.
In cooperation with Shakespeare on the Sound, who will present Romeo and Juliet in Greenwich from June 26 – July 8 and in Rowayton from July 18 – July 29.
