The joys and beauty of fall foliage are memories to cherish as the days become shorter and the weather gets colder. The biting wind and unforgiving rains drive us inside to gather around the hearth, cook soup and stew and drink hot cider. As we do these mundane tasks, we often turn to music for reflection and rejuvenation.
Percy Bysshe Shelley's poem Autumn: A Dirge (1824) is a dismal portrayal of this time of year.
