Best Week Ever

My favorite things about this week (in no particular order):

1. The book Donorboy by Brendan Halpin. The novel won an Alex Award in 2005 and follows the story of a 14-yr-old girl who loses both of her mothers in a car accident. Her sperm-donor dad takes her into his house and he struggles with the new role of fatherhood as she struggles not only with the death of her moms, but with actually having a father in her life. The most interesting thing about the book is that it is told through e-mails, IM transcripts, journal entries, and transcripts from a tape recorder. It makes you feel like you are unearthing the story, rather than having it told to you. Amazing!

2. Yesterday, I attended a workshop with other teen librarians and met somebody from the Stamford Library. I asked her if residents of Stamford felt it a little harder when the Stamford branch closed on The Office. Unfortunately, she had never seen The Office.

3. TC_bio_ilan.gifIlan won Top Chef last night!

4. This video is the best:

The penguin has a backpack that looks like a penguin! CRAZY!

Have a great weekend everybody!
