Tomorrow night, the prom at Arcadia High School in Pasadena, California won't be playing songs which refer to women as "hos" and other misogynistic names thanks to the Women's Health and Issues Club. The girls didn't want to hear songs with lyrics which were offensive to women at their prom, so they circulated a petition at school. This story has been making some waves around the internet. This piece from Pasadena's local paper has over 100 comments, most from high school students who are outraged that this decision violates their freedom of speech and that these songs are fun to dance to regardless of their content. What do you think?
I will offer this up to you: an entire radio station full of totally danceable, non-misogynist music.
