Best of the Best Reading Challenge

I'm about to do something crazy... I'm taking the American Library Association's "Best of the Best" Reading Challenge. My goal will be to read 25 of the 80 books on this year's Best Fiction for Young Adults list, or other awards lists, by June 30th. I will keep track of my books on this blog. Think I can do it? DEADford Middle School

Last weekend I had the privilege of leading a workshop at the 2012 Minds in Motion program at Bedford Middle School. What did I teach? Zombie stuff, of course. We learned how to do zombie makeup, then we made a zombie movie. Here are the results. Thank you to all my participants for their creativity and general awesomeness!

Feel the Rhythm

I wanted to let you guys know about a really awesome event I have coming up: a teen drum circle! On Saturday, April 14th, come to the Library for a unique experience. A drum circle is an informal gathering of people who meet to play drums together. There is no performance, there is no experience required, and all the instruments will be provided. Simply come and experiment with rhythm and sound. Register online. I'm really excited for this workshop!

Announcing... The Hunger Games!

I know that I haven't been posting much lately, but I have a good reason... We're busy planning a HUGE Hunger Games event and I wanted you, my dear blog readers, to be the first to know.

A Tribute to the Hunger Games will be held on Friday, March 9th from 7:30-10PM and will be for Tributes in grades 6-12. Tickets can be purchased online.
